Kwanzaa, celebrated from December 26th to January 1st, is a week-long festival honoring African heritage and culture.
It was established in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga and focuses on seven principles known as the Nguzo Saba, which emphasize unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
The celebration includes lighting the Kinara, reflecting on the principles, and enjoying communal feasts and cultural performances.
